SUMMER ARTS CAMP
This Summer, the Arts Council of Calvert County announced a new concept for Summer Arts Camp! The Arts Council collaborated with Annmarie Garden to deliver Summer Camps in the northern part of Calvert County. One session was held July 12 - 16, and the other August 9 - 13. Both sessions were held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3800 Old Town Road, Huntingtown, MD. Thanks to a generous contribution from the CalvART Gallery Artists, several scholarships were made available for students.
July 12 - 16 Session -- Storytime Art
- This session was for children entering grades 1-3. It was a full day, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for five days. The children participated in artful fun as they learned about art elements, styles and artists through fun children's books and imaginative projects. Each day included story times and art projects that reinforced the art concepts in the stories. Each child came away with new projects everyday! Take a look at some of their creations below!

August 9 - 13 Session -- Hangin' Around: Art that Hangs!
-
This session was for children entering grades 4-6. The camp ran for a full day, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for five days. Camp attendees explored the world of mobiles and other zany suspended creations as they learned about Alexander Calder and other influential artists. Students created several works to take home and display in their rooms! Photos of some of their work are pictured below.
