Congressional Arts Competition

   The Arts Council of Calvert County is pleased to lend its support to the Congressional Arts Competition hosted by Congressman Steny Hoyer. This competition is open to any high school students in the 5th Congressional District in Maryland, which includes all of Calvert County.

    Applications are available at the offices of the Arts Council of Calvert County located within the CalvART Gallery, Prince Frederick or download guidelines here and the application here.

    Each student who submits a piece of artwork will be notified by the end of May of each year of the final results. Those students whose artwork is not selected will have the opportunity to pick up their piece at either of Congressman Hoyer's District Offices. 

                                          The student with the winning piece will be notified and a reception will be held on Capitol Hill. Their artwork will then be on display in the U.S. Capitol for the entire year.

In addition, a reception with Congressman Hoyer for all of the artists who entered the competition, their families and teachers, will be held at the CalvART Gallery in Prince Frederick, MD in June of each year (date to be determined).  Below, Congressman Hoyer visits with students at the June 4, 2010 Reception at the CalvART Gallery.
