Rose Beitzell
St. Mary’s County, Maryland has been
Rose Beitzell’s home for over 40 years. She loves the Potomac, the
Wicomico; the salt marshes; the swamps and all the tributaries that
feed the rivers to the Chesapeake Bay. Her life in Southern Maryland
is visually exciting with the farmlands, animals and people
providing the inspiration for her work. Rose admits her greatest joy
is capturing the spirit of the local habitat and transferring that
onto canvas, paper or wood.
Rose became an artist by drawing and painting at a very young age.
Pencil has been part of her being as long as she can remember, and
her skills developed while experimenting with oils, acrylic,
watercolors, graphite, pastels, charcoal and wood.
Outdoors in the sun and the wind she captures the element of magic
and illusion of mother-nature with paint. Her recent discovery of
wood as a fine art medium has been an exciting development. An old
art of wood burning (pyrography) and her love of pencil drawing was
melded to produce two-dimensional artwork with lot of depth and
texture.
Rose says, “I am always striving to improve and energize my work.
There are no limits, only new adventures. It is relaxation at its
highest and the ultimate vacation.”
Her work is currently shown at Art Work @ 7th in North Beach,
Heron’s Way Gallery in Leonardtown, Bernies Custom Framing in La
Plata, MD and CalvART Gallery in Prince Frederick.
