APPLYING FOR AN
ARTS COUNCIL OF CALVERT COUNTY GRANT
Under the Maryland State Arts Council
Community Arts Development Program
General Information
Arts Council of Calvert County grants must be used in or for
Calvert County to support cultural arts programs and arts
organizations.
Grant applications must be submitted on the official Arts Council
application form, and are available by calling 410.257.7005, or from
this website.
Application deadline is Wednesday, April 30, 2008 for all grants.
You must submit an original application and three copies to:

Four types of grants are available annually:
Sample grant
program recipient:
Patuxent Elementary School used this grant for “Art Night” in
celebration of Youth Art Month. This project engaged students,
staff, families, and the entire school community in an event of
hands-on-creative expression in a variety of media.
Sample grant
program recipient:
NAACP, Calvert County Branch – Artist Delphine Williams painted
the portraits of forty prominent Calvert African-American women in
recognition of their contributions and service to the community.
The project was intended to build awareness of these women and to
inspire others, particularly young citizens. The portraits hung in
the State House, Annapolis, for the month of February 2006, Black
History Month.

General
Operating Grants – available to support an arts organization’s
annual costs. Grant requests may not exceed 10% of an arts
organization’s operating budget or $4,000, whichever is the lesser
amount. The grantee is required to provide a dollar-for-dollar
match to the amount of the grant.

Twin Beach Players, Inc., Light Opera Company of Southern
Maryland, and Chamber Orchestra of Southern Maryland, In Concert
(COSMIC)
Sample grant
program recipient:
Calvert Brass Consortium – volunteer musicians performing in
public schools, nursing homes, community events, in fund raising
for student scholarships and to combat cerebral palsy.
The Arts Council of Calvert County
regulations stipulate that no person may be excluded from
participation in, or denied the benefits of, any programs that are
supported by Arts Council funds based on race, religion, color,
national origin, sex, age, or personal handicap.
Organizations receiving grants must
conform to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This act
extends to disabled persons the same kind of anti-discrimination
provisions as found in the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Please visit

Grantees must give credit to the Arts
Council of Calvert County, the Maryland State Arts Council, and the
National Endowment for the Arts in
brochures, programs, news releases, publications and other publicity
materials made possible from the grant.
Failure to acknowledge the above
organizations as a source of funding will jeopardize the approval of
future requests.
