Calvert Pines Senior Arts Competition -- 2010 WINNER ANNOUNCED!
Congratulations to Sylvia Hill of Huntingtown for winning "BEST IN SHOW" at the Calvert Pines Senior Center. Ms. Hill's remarkable Pencil Drawing of a Child was a stand-out for the judges from the Arts Council of Calvert County.
The First Place and Division Winners, along with the "Best in Show" Winner's works are currently on display at the CalvART Gallery, 110 S. Solomons Island Road, Prince Frederick, MD 20678 in the Student Gallery area.
Since 2008, the Arts Council of Calvert County has annually presented a $500 award for "Best in Show" for the Calvert County Senior Arts Competition. The Competition is open to anyone aged 50+ who resides in Calvert County. Artists may submit only one work of art per category, but may submit in multiple categories. All entries must have been completed in the past 12 months and must be original works. Many of the artists who entered the 2010 Senior Arts Competition participate in various classes held at the three senior centers in Calvert County -- Calvert Pines Senior Center, North Beach Senior Center and Southern Pines Senior Center. The Arts Council congratulations all of the winners on their outstanding work!
