Welcome to the Goldfinch Square at 2850 St. Leonard Rd., Port Republic, created by Lisa Tettimer. Inspired by the many birds that gather on her property, especially the yellow finches that visit her sunflower fields, the square carries a deeply personal story of love, loss, and remembrance.

In 2021, after being diagnosed with a rare terminal blood cancer, Lisa's husband Jim planted three rows of sunflowers for her by hand despite being in significant pain. When the flowers bloomed, flocks of yellow finches arrived to feed, creating moments of peace and comfort for them both. After Jim's passing in 2023, their son and daughter-in-law planted the entire field in sunflowers, raising money for the American Cancer Society in his memory. Today, the sight of yellow finches gathering among the blooms continues to bring Lisa comfort and serves as a beautiful tribute to Jim's memory.
