Deena Daman, local to Port Republic, chose to have a quilt square of her beloved horse, Libby, designed to place on her and her husband's barn located at Maple Hollow Farm. They have lived here for the past 24 years. The property and barn were originally owned by the Hance family, and the barn was originally a tobacco barn. The home was built in 1920, so the original barn was believed to be built around the same time. The barn was rebuilt in 1954 due to Hurricane Hazel's destruction. Deena purchased Libby in 2010 and quickly earned her status as the queen and herd leader of the barn. Libby and Deena developed a one-of-a-kind relationship - her true heart horse, and she was Deena's inspiration to create and design her dream barn for Libby and the others. House renovations began in 2008 and the barn in 2012. The project took a total of about five years. Libby unexpectedly passed away in 2021. This barn quilt is a tribute to her. The quilt was painted by Sue Mills.
