Claire Brooks is a local artist residing in Charles County and she has been practicing various forms of visual art throughout her life. Her preferred medium is oil painting, and she enjoys working with a limited palette. For Claire, painting is a form of meditation—it calms her mind and helps reset her perspective.
Over the years, she has attended art classes and workshops across the country, continually refining her skills and expanding her artistic approach. One of the most valuable pieces of advice she's received is that every painting matters—whether it becomes a favorite or ends up in the trash—because each one is part of the process of improving and growing as an artist.
Most of her work leans toward fauvism with a bright expressive color palate. When she’s not painting, you’ll often find Claire in front of her sewing machine or arranging flowers from her garden.
