Diane Preus

Watercolor, Acrylic, Casein, Gouache, Pastel, Collage

Diane Preus

Diane’s painting studies began with watercolor, which was the focus of her efforts for several years with private lessons and workshops. She has since invited a variety of other media into her studio including acrylic, casein, gouache, cold wax and oil, pastel and collage.

She prefers to work intuitively in realism and varying degrees of abstraction. Her process begins with expressions of color, line and shape, gradually developing order out of chaos as her conversation with the composition unfolds. Diane is always seeking the element of surprise and mystery in her creations. It is important for her to have a personal connection with her artwork and to invite the viewer into the experience in their own unique way.

Diane is an active member of Calvert Artists’ Guild, Color and Light Society of Southern Maryland and CalvART Gallery in Prince Frederick, Maryland. She is always excited to share her artistic explorations with others and has been fortunate to be able to show her work in several venues in Maryland and Virginia.
