The Tettimer family decided on the Tree of Life pattern for this barn quilt to represent all of those that came before us, all of those that are no longer with us, all of those that remain by our sides today, and all those that will come to be. The tree of life is known to symbolize togetherness, unity, and strength, and those three things are something that the folks at Rolling Acres Farm believe in.
Kara Tettimer explains why they have two barn quilt squares on one barn: "When we were throwing ideas around, we thought it would be nice to have one that pays homage to the sister barn that once stood just corner to corner to the tobacco barn you all see standing today."
This Tree of Life square was sponsored by Susan Alexander in honor of her mother, Marjorie Robertson, a life long New Englander, dedicated quilter and who had a deep love of gardens and nature. Sue is grateful to share her spirit here in her adopted home of Maryland, and the Arts Council really appreciates her support of the Trail with this sponsorship. Thank you to the Tettimer family and Sue Alexander!
