Pat Morrison

Pat Morrison currently lives in Chesapeake Beach in Calvert County, Maryland. She received her BFA in Communication Arts and Design from Virginia Commonwealth University and has also studied at the Corcoran College of Art and Design and Montgomery College of Maryland.

For 20 years, Morrison worked as a freelance editorial illustrator for a variety of magazines, newspapers and associations. Later she taught art for District of Columbia Public Schools at the Fillmore Arts Center, as well as for Charles County Public Schools.

Morrison’s work is highly influenced by nature. Her work focuses on linocuts, some combined with tempera underpainting. The planning of the composition is of primary importance to her and critical to the success of a piece. A strong sense of depth is apparent in most of her compositions. Morrison’s favorite Element of Art is texture, and she enjoys experimenting with different painting and printmaking techniques to achieve a variety of textural effects in her work.

She is a member of the following Maryland galleries: CalvART Gallery in Prince Frederick, Tish Fine Art Plus in Chestertown, and the St. Mary’s Arts Council Gallery in Leonardtown. Recent shows include Calvert Library Prince Frederick, North End Gallery Invitational, and National Institutes of Health Alcove Gallery. She teaches printmaking workshops at various locations in Calvert County.
